Frida Kahlo and Her Animals

This year marks the 60th anniversary since one of the greatest female artists, Frida Kahlo passed away. Frida Kahlo's life was surrounded by unfortunates - multiple miscarriages, bus accident that almost took her life followed by an affair between her sister and her husband. She diverted these sadness into energy to paint as well as lavishing her attention to her numerous pets including her dogs, cats, monkeys, and birds, as well as her plants. This is partially due to her loneliness and devastation of not able to becoming a mother and that these living creatures are to represent lifecycle.
